Days 8-11 A bump in the road

I'll start with my rides the past few days and follow up with what I've been thinking about during my rides/experienced since I started.

Day 8 (Nov 27th) - MUni, rode 38 minutes and covered 3 miles

Day 9 (Nov 28th) - D'oh! missed my ride today and felt like a total loser. That's what I get for going out to eat after a late shift and not wanting to ride on a full stomach starting at 1030pm in November.

Day 10 (Nov 29th) - MUni, 25 minutes and covered 1.7 miles

Day 11 (Nov 30th) - Coker (36 inch wheel) rode 43 minutes, covered 5.7 miles (averaged a 7:30 mile!). W00t!!

Things I learned this time around:

-Don't put all your eggs in the basket marked "Will do later".
Alright, so as you can tell I missed a day. The plan was to ride when I got home from work around 7-8 and have dinner afterwards, allowing myself some time to cool down and grab a bite to eat. Some friends at work *had* to try this Cajun place called Evangeline down south (which, by the way, simply amazing I highly suggest it to everyone) so I ended up getting home way late and by the time I felt settled enough to ride it was just not feasible. The lesson I learned from this is if you knock your excercise out early then its just not something to worry about.

-Splitting up my exercises is both harder and easier than I imagined it to be
As you could tell, my ride from day 8 was longer than needed. My plan was actually to ride a little long sunday so I could ride shorter Monday (seeing as how I knew I had work late). Having missed Monday entirely my goal was then to ride a short ride Tuesday earlier, and another normal ride later in the evening. I tried to plan my ride with a friend and he kept pushing back when we were riding and ended up only being able to commit a little under half an hour because he was feeling sick. Live and learn.

-Having a program tracking your exercises makes you feel super awesome.
As you can maybe tell, I have both a time and a distance these days. I found an app for my phone that I can start when I start my ride and stop when I finish, it shows me my total time, total distance, average speed, top speed, and a few other honestly pretty cool gimmicks (including elevation change, though it doesn't give me any numbers just a graph). For those interested, it's called MapMyRun and has a totally free and functional version (thats what I am using).

So, a week and a half in and still riding strong! I'm planning on another ride tonight about...15 minutes or so to catch me up with where I *should* be this week, and am debating taking out one of the other Uni's that I never really use to make sure my body doesn't get too used to me riding only one type. Wish me luck, and I'll post again in the next couple days.
