Well talk about a good turn-around! Since we have last posted I have done...significantly better. Over the last week I have been taking my dog and going for a walk with her while I ride a little 2.3 mile loop around our neighborhood. And I've been doing it twice a day. So that will hopefully help...and I've finally caught up on my times on the data program I am using and I have the final totals for where I am vs. where I should be, and how much I've ridden.
Drum roll please!
Total distance ridden : 311.4 miles
Total time ridden : 3,931 minutes
Total time I *should* have ridden by now: 6,210 minutes
Total time owed: 2279 minutes, or approximately 76 days worth of rides.
So...I have a ways to go. Even if I continue this same (rather intense) schedule it will be almost 3 months until I catch back up to where I should be...and thinking about it like that is kind of daunting. So I won't! As I get more comfortable with these rides I am assuming I'll probably start doing some long rides as well as my normal ones and I can start knocking out days a lot quicker...or add more time on to my daily rides, maybe another 10 minute loop at first and kind of build it up. Since I finish my 2.3 mile loop in about 22-25 minutes (Maci runs slower than I ride usually) I don't *quite* get in 2 rides a day, but it's much better than it was.
So I'm just gonna keep on trucking and keep you guys updated!
Also, fun side note, I now hover around 215-220 pounds, which is about the lightest I've been since I first started college...so that's pretty awesome.
Until next time!

Sweet jeebus I am terrible at these things
Okay, so it has (finally) become abundantly clear that I am terrible at regularly updating anything. Unsurprisingly (at least to me) I do not have the hard data right now with how far behind I am, but I can tell you a rough estimate and it's not good.
About 60 days.
That's right, I'm freakishly far behind in my rides, meaning that if I was to ride a full hour every day for the next month and a half I would *still* not be caught up with where I am supposed to be. And it's terrible.
I have been really slacking recently both in my ride and my health in general, and I need a reboot to get me back on the right track. I am (again) writing this at work during some brief periods of downtime between patients, as my computer has been dead for the past 3 weeks and I haven't had the time or need to repair it. I am realizing that while it's nice to not catch myself surfing the net for hours at a time, I'm not doing a very good job at keeping myself motivated to do other things that I should be doing and I feel it is about time that changes. Tonight after I get home from work I am taking my dog on another ride, at least 30 minutes but if I can get the time then I want to get an hour in tonight. While I find it unlikely I'll be able to ride an hour every day for the next 2 months, I am at least not going to let myself get even further behind by missing another day.
I would apologize to everyone reading my blog (and I was surprised to find that I even have a follower somehow?) but honestly more than letting you guys down I've just disappointed myself. While I can't promise I will be updating any more regularly I will promise I will be riding more, and I hope to at least get through a solid month of steady rides.
As a fun aside, I have been doing the caveman diet for the past month or so and it's pretty fantastic. Part of me slacking on the health aspect is me also being lame about not doing as much "cave-man" like as I should be doing, and I have recently been eating a lot of the foods I shouldn't be. While a week or two ago I hit a record low for my weight (215!), I have since gained a bit back and while I don't want to weigh myself to find out just how horrible it is I expect it's at least 5-10 pounds back.
As another fun aside, I've made a commitment now to many people that if I ever break 200 pounds (which honestly sounds almost impossible to me, but we will see) I will shave my head completely. So...any of you reading and wanting to see that bother me more about getting on top of things.
Wish me luck, I'm really wanting to to better. I'm very discouraged with my lack of willpower at times.

Extremely late and extremely overdue!
So my myriad of fans! I'd like to say there is a good reason I haven't been updating, or a good reason I am so far behind on my rides it's not even funny...but there isn't. I had a month or two where I was just in a bad place and things got really delayed, but since I have started the "Caveman Diet" (click link for more info) and I am feeling amazing!
All of my data is still being compiled, but I can tell you the main gist of it. I am roughly 1 month worth of rides behind on my rides, and it's a bummer...BUT I have found new people to be friends with who are actually active that I can go on rides with and will keep me motivated to keep on moving! This weekend (or maybe tomorrow) I will try to put myself back up to date, since the last day I have track of is up to March 19th...but there are my stats as of March 19th:
Total days: 121
Total miles: 199.5
Total time: 2,778 minutes
As of March 19th I was approximately 852 minutes behind, or the equivalent of almost 29 days of missed rides. Since then I have been doing better but I am still way behind...However, worth noting is I have since taken many long rides, the ones most worth bragging being a 15 mile ride on a Coker during Easter with a friend of mine, and a 9 mile ride on a 24" uni one night while killing time before a jazz gig.
I'm going to try to catch my data up with where I am today, I am going to be honest and say that most likely I am going to be even more far behind...but thats okay! I'm looking positive and I'm getting in shape, both of which were the focus of this whole experience. And hey, who knows? I have another 6-7 months to catch back up, and my goal is to freakin do it!
My computer died this past week so I am currently updating from work, but I think I can find an app for my Kindle Fire that will let me update my blog posts from there, so I'll see what I can do about actually updating more regularly. And yes I know that this will be the what, 5th time I've said that? But this time I really mean it!
Also fun, I ordered a new wheel for my Coker unicycle and and in the middle of re-painting it with fluorescent paint, and I bought a couple strings of UV lights so that I will hopefully be able to ride with an *extremely* visible bike at night.
Thanks for being patient, and hopefully check back soon for my fully updated stats and more info about whats going on in my life!

Days 64-74
***First off, I was noticing my math was *WAY* weird for total time, since at day 60 I should have approximately 1800 minutes (30x60). I got an excel spreadsheet and went back to day one, and now I have a tally of total time and distance I've run every day since the beginning. The numbers have changed, and I figured out exactly how far behind I am. That being said, here's the post of me trying to catch up the past week and a half.***
So it turns out that while I am still horrible at updating this thing regularly, at least my backup plans are working out and I have a good record of what I've done, so that makes this whole part easier. Let's see by the end if I made some progress catching up or not, I had to miss a couple days because the weather...but I'll explain that when I get there!
First off, this is all on the MUni, just as a heads up. And if anything reads 30 minutes and is less than 2-2.5 miles, it means I just rode it around the neighborhood.
Day 64 - no ride - Honestly I don't remember why. Probably because I suck.
Day 65 - 24 minutes, 1.8 miles
Day 66 - 30 minutes, 1.8 miles
Day 67 - 30 minutes, 1.5 miles
Day 68 - 35 minutes, 2.4 miles
Day 69 - 75 minutes, 5.1 miles *This was a cool day! I posted on an awesome website called Unicyclist.com about what I am doing asking for people to help keep me motivated and keep on keeping on, adding that anybody who lives in central Texas and wants to join me for a ride is more than welcome to message me. Lo and behold John from Houston sent me a personal message that he'd be in Austin that Friday for a canoe race, and if I was interested he could go on a ride with me Friday night. I, of course, jumped on the chance and we went around the lake, ended up being approximately 4.7-4.8 mile loop and after I dropped him back off at his hotel I played around the area a bit more. The lake is a really enjoyable ride, I need to get my dog comfortable running next to me so we can hit it more frequently.
Day 70 - 30 minutes, 2.1 miles
Day 71 - 30 minutes, 1.5 miles
Day 72 - no ride - This was due to weather. I was surprised I got out at all the past couple days and didn't even want to risk putting my phone in my pocket to get exact distances and routes, I came back somewhat damp. Were it not literally pouring rain and thunder I would have been a lot more likely to go out this day.
Day 73 - no ride - This was more a result of bad timing and horrible sleep. Whether it was the rain or whatever, I got almost no sleep the night before making me very drowsy in the morning. After work I laid down for a little and passed out, barely waking up in time to make it to a gig I play every Tuesday downtown. Curses sleep, ruining my plans yet again!
Day 74 - 30 minutes, 1.5 miles
Today is technically day 75, but I left for work at 6:50 this morning and I'm not quite to the point where I wake up at 5:30 to work out and ride.
I'm working on getting to the point where my dog can run next to me while I ride, both to combat the fact that she has *WAY* too much energy and so I can kill two birds with one stone and don't have to take her out for a 30-45 minute walk just to turn right back around once I get home and go riding for another 30-45 minutes. I'll keep you updated, a dog trainer friend is going to help me get her used to running next to a bicycle, and from there I'll try and get her next to the Uni.
Total distance - 134.7
Total time - 2013/2220. Still about 7 days behind. For shame!!
So, I'm still behind...but now I know exactly what I have to do to catch up. Also, wish me luck...I'm going to try and bring my MUni stuff with me to Enchanted Rock, a park nearby with a giant hill (or very small mountain) made of rock that I can hopefully do some of my first real trail riding down. Will try to bring a camera to post pictures and maybe video if possible.

Day 61-63 wooooo!
Day 61 - 1.75 miles in 21 minutes in the MUni. Went out with my friend, him on his roller blades and he got too tired to finish. Oh well...
Day 62 - 6.67 miles in 1 hour 13 minutes on a MUni! I put a long goal in mind and just kept on going and was incredibly surprised (and pleased) with the results!
Day 63 - 1.2 miles in 31 minutes on the MUni. Spent about half practicing idling and actually got a good round of it in. Very good past few days, though I am a little saddle sore.
Total time - 1165 minutes
95.2 miles
Got an app for my phone (of course) to update my blog, so I should update more regularly but they will be shorter posts.

Day 60 - And I'm back!
Day 60 - Rode about 2 miles as I was looking for my dog (somehow she got out of the fenced in back yard) for about 30 minutes. Unluckily I didn't find her, wish me luck on finding her in the near future.
Total distance - 85.6 miles

Lets tack this down to me being awful and start over?
So. If nothing else in my life has shown that sometimes I'm just a failure then this past post will do it...lol. Still, in an effort to make myself more on top of things and better at recording my rides online I'm going to try and branch out to the unicycle community and show off my stuff. That being said, I finally had the time to run some numbers and this is what I got:
Today is the 60th day of my challenge. I have a total of (approximately):
1010 minutes riding (about the time it takes to fly from New York to Munich and back)
83.6 miles (about the distance from my house in Austin, TX to Normoyle Park in San Antonio, TX*)
*note, I have no idea why I picked Normoyle park, I'm not trying to endorse it or anything I just found something almost exactly 83.6 miles from my house.
*However* I am also 5 days behind on my rides. I got sick over a weekend and lost about 2 days and I lost a few days while I was doing a show with Circus Chickendog and didn't have the time or energy to ride during the whole ordeal. I've made a day or two back, but I do have some catching up do to.
As I am just starting to branch out and get other unicyclists interested in what I'm doing I want to point out (kindly) that I don't really want or need abusive comments. This is just my way of writing what I'm doing and trying to hold myself accountable for what I said I would do...however, words of encouragement or helpful tips are always welcomed!
My goal is to (hopefully) update more regularly, at least once a week if not twice, and hopefully this time I won't suck quite so much and it'll be a lot more enjoyable for everyone.
Wish me the best of luck!
